Nitropolis Slot
Nitropolis starts every spin at 4,096 ways, then lets a Nitro Reel pack up to 12 identical symbols into two positions, with 85,155,840 ways as the ceiling. In free spins those reels lock for the rest of the bonus, and a randomly chosen symbol also pays as a scatter.
Nitropolis Demo
Follow the size number on top of each Nitro Reel, which shows how many symbols that reel counts for and can climb between respins. In free spins, note which symbol was picked for scatter pay.
Nitropolis in brief: a ways slot built around one idea
Nitropolis gets nearly all of its character from a single idea: a reel does not have to hold four symbols. ELK Studios released this 6-reel, 4-row ways slot in November 2020, with four clans (the Dirty Dawgs, Gritty Kitties, Pug Thugs and Rogue Rats) fighting over green Nitro fuel in a post-apocalyptic city. The clans supply the artwork, and the story never touches the rules.
With no Nitro Reel in view you are playing a plain 4,096-ways game with respins. With several on screen, the same six reels can offer millions of ways, and the gap between those two states explains most of how the game behaves. Stakes run from €0.20 to €100, and wins are capped at 10,000x the bet.

A 19.8% hit frequency means just under one spin in five pays anything. The 96.1% RTP is a long-run theoretical figure, and the game fills in the value in its own rules when it loads, so check there.
How a round plays out
Only winning symbols move after a win. Payouts run left to right from the first reel across consecutive reels, with no gaps allowed, and then every symbol and Nitro Reel in the win respins individually while the rest of the board stays put. The sequence continues until a respin brings no new win, so a strong Nitro Reel sitting outside one win is still there for the next.
Nitro Reels can land on the opening spin, or appear at random when two vertically adjacent symbols respin after a win. When a round runs out of wins, any Nitro Reel in view may get a random extra respin, which the product sheet calls a second chance.
Nitro Reels, locked bonus spins and the rest of the feature set
Almost everything here feeds the ways count or the bonus.
Nitro Reels
A Nitro Reel always covers two vertical positions but counts as 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 copies of one symbol, shown by its size number. Ways multiply reel by reel, so the effect is large. One size-12 Nitro Reel plus the two ordinary positions left on that reel makes 14 symbols instead of 4, which turns 4,096 ways into 14,336. More Nitro Reels compound that. The catch is connection: a huge stack on reel six pays nothing unless its symbol, or a wild, runs through the five reels before it.
Upgrades and second chances
Two random events work on Nitro Reels already in view. During a respin or between free spins, one or more can jump to a larger size, raising the ways count without touching anything else on the board. At the end of a spin with no more wins, one or more can also respin by themselves, so a dead-looking result is not final until they have stopped moving.
Bonus symbols inside Nitro Reels
Size stops mattering in one case. A bonus symbol inside a Nitro Reel counts as a single bonus symbol however large the reel is, and the ways count drops while it sits there. When it spins out, the Nitro Reel keeps its size and the ways return. A size-12 reel showing a bonus symbol is one step towards free spins, and little else.
Free spins with locked Nitro Reels
Three, four, five or six bonus symbols award 10, 15, 20 or 25 free spins. Every Nitro Reel locks in place for the remaining spins, so ways collected early keep working on each spin that follows, and an early Nitro Reel is worth more than a late one. Retriggers use the same table, and winnings are paid when the bonus ends.
The scatter-paying symbol
On entering the bonus, one paying symbol is picked at random to pay as a scatter, needing three or more instances on three different reels in view. A Nitro Reel holding it counts as one instance for reaching that threshold, then pays at its full size. Wilds substitute for it. If that symbol also forms a normal ways win, only the scatter win pays. Each retrigger adds another scatter-paying symbol, up to a maximum of 3.
Buy Bonus
ELK's game page describes an option to buy your way in, either the standard Free Spins Bonus or a Super Bonus with a guaranteed retrigger that adds an extra scatter-paying symbol. This is not the X-iter menu of the sequels, and no published sheet states a price. If the version you load shows the option, its confirmation screen displays the total cost first.
What 96.1% RTP and a 10,000x cap mean for Nitropolis
No numbered Nitropolis game has a higher RTP than this one: the sequels sit at 95.0% or 94.0%. That 96.1% is a theoretical return across a vast number of rounds and says nothing about a single session. With a 19.8% hit frequency and volatility of 8 out of 10, expect plenty of dead spins, with much of the return held back for bonus rounds and boards full of Nitro Reels.
The 10,000x figure is a ceiling, and nothing suggests it is a common result. At €1 it stops a round at €10,000, and at the €100 top stake it comes to €1,000,000, the maximum exposure printed on the data sheet. A round reaching the cap ends at once and pays what has been collected.

What the sequels changed
There is no Booster reel in this first game, and no X-iter menu. Nitropolis 2 added both. Nitropolis 3 replaced respins with avalanches and expanding rows, introduced big Nitro Reels, lifted the cap to 50,000x and cut the top bet to €50. Nitropolis 4 brought Nitro Multipliers, and Nitropolis 5 added the NPD Holding Cell and Boss Battle. Spin-offs named after the clans and Nitropolis TV also exist, though this guide does not cover them yet.
Nitropolis pros and cons
What works
- Highest RTP of the five numbered games at 96.1%
- The size number makes a Nitro Reel easy to read at a glance
- Locked Nitro Reels give early free spins a lasting effect
- A random scatter symbol, up to 3 after retriggers, gives each bonus its own target
What to watch
- Wins pay left to right only, so a big Nitro Reel on a far reel can count for nothing
- Just under one spin in five pays, and rounds without Nitro Reels can feel thin
- Later games cap wins five times higher, at 50,000x
Who Nitropolis suits, and who should skip it
Nitropolis suits players who like one mechanic they can follow by eye and who value a higher stated RTP over the longer feature lists of the sequels. Skip it if you want multipliers, a Booster reel or a menu of paid modes, because none of them are here. Quiet stretches are part of the deal at this volatility, so the free demo is a sensible place to test that rhythm.
Nitropolis questions answered
What is the RTP of Nitropolis?
The published figure is 96.1%, the highest among the numbered games. It is a long-run theoretical average, not a session forecast.
What is the maximum win in Nitropolis?
Wins are capped at 10,000x the bet, and a round that reaches the cap ends immediately. Read it as a limit rather than an expected outcome.
Can I play a Nitropolis demo?
Yes. Demo spins on this page run on play credits, so nothing is staked or won.
How do you trigger free spins in Nitropolis?
Three, four, five or six bonus symbols award 10, 15, 20 or 25 free spins. A bonus symbol inside a Nitro Reel counts as one.
What does a Nitro Reel actually do?
It fills two positions but counts as 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 copies of one symbol, which multiplies the ways to win.
Does Nitropolis have X-iter?
No. ELK's page does describe buying the standard bonus or a Super Bonus, but the published sheets give no price.
